Post-Easter Reset: Getting Back Into Trading Mode

Back to the Charts: Easing Into Trading After the Easter Break

After a few well-earned days off over the Easter weekend, it’s time to dust off the charts, fire up the screens, and ease back into the markets.

If you’re anything like me, stepping away from trading—even for a short break—can feel a bit strange. You spend your days deeply tuned into price action, setups, and economic events, so when that routine pauses, it takes a moment to get back in sync.

Here are a few thoughts on getting back into the groove this week:

1. Don’t Rush In

It’s tempting to come back all guns blazing, trying to “make up” for missed opportunities—but the market isn’t going anywhere. Take your time. Spend the first day back just observing: look at how the major pairs, indices, or assets you trade behaved over the break. What’s the tone? What’s changed?

2. Recheck the Fundamentals

A lot can happen in a few days. Catch up on any economic data, news events, or central bank developments you might’ve missed. The landscape might have shifted slightly, and you want to make sure your analysis reflects the latest info.

3. Clean the Slate

Whether last week was brilliant or a bit of a slog, this is a fresh start. Clear your mind of any FOMO or frustration. Review your trading plan, remind yourself of your risk rules, and approach this week with focus and discipline.

4. Journal the Re-Entry

Write down how you’re feeling coming back. Are you rested? Itchy to trade? Cautious? Self-awareness is key. It helps you stay objective and avoid emotional decision-making—especially after time away.

5. Start Small if Needed

There’s no rule that says you must dive straight back in with full-size trades. Starting small or even paper-trading for a session can be a great way to warm up and build confidence again.

Taking breaks is important—it keeps your mind sharp and avoids burnout. So if you feel a bit out of rhythm after the Easter long weekend, don’t stress. Take it slow, stay patient, and the flow will return soon enough.

Here’s to a strong and focused week ahead!
